anyone know any little games i can play with my lease horse ?
i don’t always have acces to a round pen, so i play around with her in the indoor. the other day i groomed her for about half an hour, then brought her into the indoor. i did a bit of training with her, backup, walk, turn on the haunches ect.. then i took off her halter and ran around with her. shes great! she hadn’t been out in awhile, so i let her run around bucking, and having fun for a bit. i kept her running for awhile then i thought id try a join up. i went and stood in the middle of the arena and after a few more laps she trotted over to me. (i know how to do a proper join up, but that wasnt my intention to begin with so i just let it go) i ran around with her for a bit longer, her following me over jumps and around pylons. it was really fun, but i didn’t really know what i was doing. i just went in and played with her. anyone know any specific exercises i can do with her? instead of just running around? thanks!

I think I’m with CP and Maybell on this. Get books on all the various aspects of horsemanship, and read them while your horse loafs in the stall. If you sit in the stall and read the books aloud to your horse, so much the better. Perhaps you’ll >both< learn something.
If you actually do get this bonding stuff working, try to establish yourself as the one in charge of how it works. It you only “bond” when the horse “feels like it” and at other times the horse walks all over you, it’s sort of like slavery.
It is up to the horse.
Out of the fifty or more horses I have owned, 4 bonded with me. The filly born out of my favorite mare bonded with my husband although he rode the mother and I rode the filly. (I think I “belonged” to Mama and the filly knew it so chose my husband.)
Spending a lot of time with the horse, taking walks in hand helps, but as I said it depends on the horse.
Try playing “stand in the stall for 18-20 hours a day while I don’t have time to be with you.”
Join up. It’s a really good bonding exercise. Horses really connect with you later on. Look it up on YouTube and Google for more info.
You can do “Thrust Falls” only I don’t think your horse will catch you. Doesn’t matter though becuase already thrust your horse (or do you?). What matters is that you catch your horse every time.
Sit in her stall and read to her while she eats her hay. ride her bareback. but other then that you got it. just hang out with her and play around!
