Affectionate, very lively, agile and attentive - they are eager to please, with a sixth sense about what the owner wants. Australian Shepherds are highly intelligent and easy to train. They need much more exercise than that and something to occupy their mind daily or they will become bored, leading to serious behavior problems. Without enough mental and physical exercise and or a lack of a true pack leader, they can become nervous and destructive if left alone. Socialize well to prevent them from becoming suspicious of strangers. They need to be taken on a daily, brisk, long walk, jog or run alongside you when you bicycle. If under-exercised, this breed can become restless and destructive.

I would call your vet and describe the problem. They will be able to give you some tips that they have seen other owners use, and may be able to schedule you for times when there are not many other dogs around. Or they may be able to let you wait in the car and come in right as the vet is ready to see her, so she doesn't have to wait around the waiting room.
As for sedating, if the vet thinks that's a good idea, they can give you the proper sedative and advise you when to give it. Basically, I think contacting the vet is a good idea. They will be glad you called!
As for the muzzle, it shouldn't shake off... you may need to find someone who can fit her properly for one.

i would call the vet, make the appointment, tell them your dog is seriously dog aggressive and that you will wait outside of the clinic until it is your turn (or in your car if you are that afraid of other dogs setting yours off) ... if you have a cell phone, just get them to call you when to come in ... and if you can not walk the dog fast through the lobby of a vet clinic with your dog, maybe you need to acknowledge this is a problem you can not fix on your own, nor evidently are you even able to manage your own dog in the most basic of situations (must be a joy to walk that dog - NOT) ... and you do not want to sedate your dog when taking it to the vet, there is no sedation that will calm what you have described ... and i would say GET A MUZZLE THAT FITS ... your dog is an accident waiting to happen, you lack the training skills to fix the dog after the "attacks" (why on earth was your dog attacked so often, which is maybe why you can't fix the dog now, it does not have any trust in you for allowing it to be attacked so often) ... my dog was almost killed by a pit bull, spent over eight hours in surgery to live, and afterwards she harbored no ill will towards other dogs or even pit bulls (i hate pit bulls though) so this is all on YOU ...

I think a pit bull would totally fit you. They are easy to groom and have very short hair. My pit bull is medium size and when I tell you they show affection, they really do, my pit bull gives me kisses all the time and she follows me everywhere. Pit bulls are very loyal dogs. When I walk with my pit bull outside (with no lease) she comes back to me when I call her name and I never taught her this :O Pit bulls are very intelligent dogs and would love to just go on walks. I trained my pit bull not to go on roads. I really think a pit bull would fit you well, just socialize them young and you will have a great companion for life. Rescue a Dog :D

You let the vet's office know ahead of time about her temperament problems. When you get there, leave her in the car, go in and tell them you're there and when they have the examine room ready for you, go out and get her, keeping her on a very short leash, walk straight into the exam room.
A dog who had a stable temperament and was properly socialized, would recover quickly from being attacked with some training, so keep working with her.

Ask the receptionist if your dog can be taken in a side door.
Or ask if receptionist can come out to your car and notify you when it is your turn.
Muzzle the dog.

well, most of the time, there are other dogs who will also bark and snarl at each other. so, you should be fine as long as you get a cage big enough for her and ( only if you can ) sit far away from the other dogs.

There's several people who ask how they can make their butt BIGGER.... we have to get you two together. Perhaps you can share. Man... it's hard to defeat the genetics which have been given to you.
