Criminals Grow Marijuana On My Land, And Other Farmers Land. Should I Try And Help?

I own a 2500+ acre tract of land. It’s mostly forest, fields and swamp. For the past 4 years in a row I have found huge marijuana grows, but after the criminals had taken the marijuana. Basically I’m finding the remnants of huge mairjuana grows, which had 1000’s of plants at one point.
So I called the police and they came and checked it out and confirmed it was a large grow, and basically told me to watch out for anyone suspicious, and to build a fence in the area to prevent vehicles from getting back there.
So I built a fence and the drug growers just went to another part of my land, where there was no fence. I can’t afford to fence 2500+ acres of land.
So basically I’m in a fight with these criminals who are using my land to grow massive amounts of marijuana and it’s WRONG. I want to stop them. The police obviously want to stop them, but they don’t have the resources to patrol my land all the time.
Around september I ask the police to ride through my property and they have only agreed one year, and they didn’t find anything. I ended up finding it, they just didn’t go to the right area I guess. It’s hit or miss.
Again I found marijuana stalks, leaves, and stuff that the growers left.
I was thinking why the hell are they wasting all of these leaves? marijuana leaves are so valuable aren’t they? And I asked a police officer and he said, marijuana plants grow big buds or flowers, which are very resinous, and that leaves aren’t usually sold. He further went on to say, they bring out scissors and knives and garbage bags, and they cut these “buds” and trim them on the spot, and put them in garbage bags for transport.
So the leaves are basically worthless to them, so are the stems which I thought was weird.
How do I stop these people from growing on my land? And if I can’t stop them, is there are way I can find the plants before they are “harvested”" and taken off my land to be sold to highschool kids and god knows who else?!?!?
If I could find the plants and call the police and get the police to remove them before the drug criminals come to take the valuable “buds/flowers” away, they would probably stop growing on my land right? Or they may move places, but if I kept finding it, and calling the police in to destroy it. I would make it pretty damn hard for them to continue this criminal behavior on my land right?
I was thinking of getting a German Shepherd of a Labrador and training one the same way that a drug sniffing dog is trained. I’m not sure how that works, and I hope you don’t need real marijuana to train them to find it. I’ve heard you can train them using simulants scents?
I have an ATV and if I had a drug sniffing dog would I be able to find these plots of marijuana more easily if I walk the trails with my dog all fall? I have an idea where they usually grow. (kind of) I mean I know a certain back part of the property they tend to grow on. But it’s 400-500 acres worth. I could walk through the trails with a sniffer dog and find the stuff while it’s almost mature, and get the police involved, before the traffickers come and get it.
I’d be helping humanity and preventing a kid from getting hooked to marijuana or using it as a gateway drug.
I know the people who grow this are probably dangerous and possibly armed, so I would be careful and always bring a firearm, and I would not confront anyone i found on the property, I would walk away. I would be careful to watch for booby traps and I Would not touch the stuff or go near this illegal drug. I would simply mark it on gps for the police.
Is it a bad idea or a good one?
And it is possible to get a dog to help me do this?
The police don’t have enough manpower to prevent people from coming onto my property so I need to o something about it. I can put up more fence but like rats they will find a way in!
Other land owners up here have had problems like mine too and have gone to the police about it, and got help but still the police never seem to catch the guys.
Should I just let them continue to grow this crap on my property and leave it up to police to possibly catch them through miracle? or start finding the stuff myself so the police can come in and chop it.
I would like answers from police officers in the united states and Canada and other countries. As well as lawyers or farmers/land owners who’ve dealt with this!
