I’m not hell-bent on seeing results in the next few weeks, but I’d like to know how long it would take to start seeing /some/ results on something other than the scale.
I’m currently 5′7″ and about 195 lbs and my goal weight is about 130-135. I keep my daily caloric intake between 2,000 and 2,100 calories a day (split into three meals and one snack) and eat as healthily as I possibly can.
I work out for an 1 hour 30 mins – 2 hours a day, five days a week. My workouts consist of about 30 – 40 mins on the treadmill (3 mph, 5% incline), 15-30 minutes on the elliptical (typically 15 mins, resistance level 6), and the rest is all weight training.
Any idea how long it would take me to start seeing results? Any advice would be welcomed as well. =) Thanks!

We’re all so different, it’s hard to know when you’ll see visible results that are visible for YOU.
That being said, you’re going about this in the perfect way, so I don’t think it’s going to take long at all. You’re right, the scale isn’t the best place to keep track of progress, especially since you’re going to be doing strength training. Look for changes in how your clothes fit, it may also be a good idea to use a tape measure and use it to keep track – that’s a lot more accurate.
Congrats on making a healthy lifestyle change. Stick with it.
Good luck.
That depends on your body. Sometimes it takes people 6-8 weeks to see results. For some others it takes about a month.
You should not be eating that many calories. You will not lose a pound eating 2000-2100 calories. Now, some people are going to be diet snobs and they will tell you that you need to eat 1200 calories a day, you do not need to eat 1200 calories a day either. Stick to about 1600. Eat a balanced 1600 calorie diet, I promise you, you’ll lose the weight. 2100 calories a day is what coal miners should eat.
To put it into perspective, one pound is 3500 calories.
Focus more on what you eat. I love exercise, but unfortunately you can’t burn off a poor diet. It’s much easier to cut calories than it is to burn them.
