I strongly recommend that you don’t. A dog eating a hotdog is the equivelent to a human eating 4 1/2 slices of pizze(when it comes to caloric intake). And, since labs have a tendency to become overweight(VERY EASILY), it will surely cause issue. Even though one little hotdog doesnt seem like much to you, and doesn’t last long in front of a dog, it can do a lot of harm.
Instead, try Nature’s Recipe training treats. They aren’t too costly, and won’t cause as much weight gain as a hotdog.

You can use a hot dog for a training treat, but you should just break off tiny, tiny pieces. There’s a lot of salt in a hot dog, so you want to get as much training out of it as possible (and it will probably last a couple of days).
When I say “tiny”, I mean like 1/2 the size of your fingernail on your pinky finger. You’re going to reward frequently as you’re training, so the tinier, the better.

Use his kibble instead. Hotdogs are not healthy for people alone and even worse for animals. Look at this article…in one sentence it tells you how bad it is to eat Hotdogs often.http://www.sixwise.com/newsletters/06/10…

Yes. I use hot dogs all the time when training. Chicken or turkey weiners are better than just regular ones.

Let’s be honest here, hot dogs aren’t good for anyone. Have you ever read the ingredients on the package? They sell trainer treats at dog stores, or use little bits of chicken. Hot dogs, no bueno.

It won’t do him any harm cuz I give my dogs hot dogs too
But I don’t think you should give it to him as a training treat because he might get use to the table food habbit
