The course requires male non-commissioned officers (NCOs) to participate in sessions and classes to learn more about pregnancy and special exercises for pregnant women, including wearing a “pregnancy simulator.”
If this is true, what in the living heck has happened to our military?
.

@Chung: Saddam Hussein circa 1991 disagrees with you.
@Wraeth: Actually looks legit. Seems like this is a new program being done to whatever you call your Command Fitness Leaders (the people who lead your PT programs). It looks like they actually care about the issue (whatever the issue is), rather than just making it CBT. Nothing says “This training is required but not important” like CBT.
It would seem to be legit.
Since men can’t get pregnant, it would be helpful if they understood from a woman’s perspective how it feels. Being someone’s boss, you dictate what your subordinates do. There are rules and regulations on what they can do…but it can make you a better leader if you understand intimately what is going on. And since they’re not going to impregnate any guy…this is the closest they can get.
If you have a pregnant soldier, it would be nice if you understand what it’s like. Simple things like getting up from a seated position too many times can be difficult.
Are you surprised by this? Why? There are plenty of things the military trains you on that has nothing to do with war.
Women can’t help but be the ones who have to carry babies…if you can be a more empathetic leader and NCO towards your pregnant soldiers, then that’s not something to fault or be embarrassed about.
Although, I would make them wear it for longer than just an hour. Make them wear it for at least a day. When you only wear it for an hour, it doesn’t really affect you.
It won’t exactly simulate it…because there’s no way you can simulate having your organs pushed around by a baby. You don’t get kicked in the kidneys or have all that pressure on your bladder making you want to constantly pee.
No that is not true. I have never once heard of that.
@ Chung. You can say that, but we have also NOT fought a war since WW2.
JHC, well if it is legit, it hasn’t filtered through the whole Army yet. It is probably part of the Resiliency BS we have to go through now.
you know, USA America military has not won war since WW2
