We have a 7 month old border collie mix, and she doesn’t like people she doesn’t know. Whenever someone comes into our house, my puppy barks and wants to nip their heels and snap at their legs. We already have a professional dog trainer who has worked with all kinds of dogs for 15 years, and we already know how to train her for these situations of new people. There is SOME improvement, but she still doesn’t like, or trust people she doesn’t know. She is a real sweetie when its just towards me and my mom and dad, but she acts bad with strangers. I hope she can get better at this! Does anyone know if my puppy is it likely get friendlier, and get friendly to strangers?? Thanks!

7 months of age is the juvenile period – and its not unusual to see a spike in dogs fear pattern – but if you just leave the dog to sort it out – she will – by biting someone.
You need to muzzle her to protect others and then take that dog on lead as many places as you can to acclimate her to people.
The dog must also be trained in obedience.
The fact the dog is loose in the house tells me your dog trainer hasn’t done much for you – a dog that can nip at someones heels needs to be restrained – have the dog leashed in-doors and command “down stay”. The trainer should be coaching you in your home to deal with this.
Provide structure for the dog and enforce boundaries. Dogs can improve – or get worse -depending a great deal on what the owner does or does not do.
my male border collie does this too. we put him in the crate or muzzle him. when he realizes they are friendly we can let him out and he is nice. hes getting alittle bit better
