My Dog Hides All The Time?

By admin Posted in: Dog Training

I got a border collie mix that i love to death her name is Hailey and the people we got her from where not nice to her but never hit her just got loud with her. She is now fully trained for cattle. But when ever inside she goes between the two couches or under the desk with her face hidden. Is this behavior brought on by the previous owners? She is great out side minus her jumping in the pond in the winter time (haha silly pup) but as soon as she is in she runs between the couches. Any way to help her come out and hang out with us out of her “Hiding Hole”. Please Help.

It’ll take time…sounds like she’s been traumatized. Maybe just sit on the floor close to her, talk gently and calmly to her. Maybe toss her a yummy treat now and then.
I had a Shih Tzu that had been traumatized before I got her. She never totally go over it. When ever a guest came into the house she would run and hide behind the sofa, and not come out until she was sure they had left.

sounds like a well behaved inside dog would you prefer her jumping all over your guests and under your feet all the time she will become more comfortable with time if you get up to go to the kitchen call her to come to you this will familiarize her with her inside surroundings be patient don’t show frustration she will pick up on this
