When he wakes up, he goes to our kitchen and sits there, motionless. When we eat, he ignores his food and stares at us, occasionally jumping up and looking at our table until we say ‘off’ and he goes down. While training, his eyes will fix on our hand, drooling…
When we sit down, all he wants is food, when we go out, all he wants is food and chew toys. No more interests in toys anymore… We need to stop his obsession before it is too late, before he gets too fat! He has fod, we feed him the amount our vet recommends! What can we do? He just won’t be distracted. D:

Don’t all dogs do that?? 0-0
The best part of the day for my two male dogs is breakfast and dinner. They both inhale it like I never feed them. The one even tries to get into cupboards to binge. I think it’s a pretty normal thing for most dogs.
^ yeah I’m sure all dogs do this
Use his obsession as an aid to training him.
Use food as a reward for him, after he performs his obedience training correctly.
Calculate how much food per day he requires (based on his ‘ideal’ body weight).
Split that amount into 3 seperate portions.
Feed him one portion for breakfast (AFTER his walk)
Feed his 2nd portion for afternoon dinner (AFTER you finish eating).
Use the 3rd portion as “treats” to reward him with for being obedient during his training throughout the day.
Suggestions:
In the morning when he wakes up and goes to the kitchen.
Hold a morsel of food and call him to you (train him to COME, HEEL, SIT, DOWN) and reward him with a couple of pieces of food.
Take him for a walk, carry a few pieces of food and train him to walk to HEEL.
At home, get him to SIT & STAY (or DOWN / STAY) on the other side of the room, as you set his food bowl down. Teach him to WAIT until you give the ‘release’ command before he goes to his food.
Throughout the day, spend a few 5-minute sessions on reinforcing his obedience training (SIT – STAY – DOWN – COME) and reward him with a morsel of food from his 3rd portion.
