Taking Puppy At 7 Weeks Vs 8 Weeks?
Hi everyone. I just put a deposit down on a Malamute/Husky puppy and was wondering if taking him at 7 or 8 weeks would be better. I have been doing some research and most people are saying 8 weeks in the minimum but I have also seen some breeders and dog owners who say 7 weeks is better to begin training and bonding with the pup. I have a golden lab who is 1 1/2 years old he can play with and I would be able to be with the puppy 24/7 for a couple months (he wont be left alone) if that makes any difference. I got my Golden lab at 6 1/2 weeks and she is a great dog. Thank you!

How Does Your Trained Dog Let You Know When It Needs To Go To The Bathroom Outside?
Adopting A Dog, Need Help?
We’re looking at adding a third ‘puppy’ to our family. I think I’ve narrowed it down to two choices at the moment and would like some input from people with a bit more dog experience than me.
Our current dogs are a 7 year old Great Dane X Rotti, and a 2 year old Fox Terrier X. We have two young children. Any dog we get will be an inside dog, but we do have acreage for a more energetic dog to explore. I HATE the puppy stage so our new fur baby will be an adult rescue dog. I’m also not keen on small dogs. Our Fox Terrier is a bit of a sore point with me because of this.
The two girls we are looking at are:
2 year old Saluki X. She’s a real tear jerker who has been at the rescue shelter for over a year now. She has received extensive obedience training. She gets along well with other dogs but is smaller than I would like and submissive. That might not be a good thing with my children.
2 year old Keeshond X. I have no experience of this breed. She has been at the shelter for close to a year now. The dog in question is very well socialised with both dogs and children. She’s closer to the size I want, the temperament I want, but there’s all that HAIR!
Help me decide, please! I’d love to adopt both dogs but due to animal restrictions I can only bring home one of these two girls.
How Do I Get My Puppy To Stop Lunging At Other Dogs?
I have a 8 month old hound mix of course she has a lot of energy and I understand her desire to play, but she is very excitable around other dogs. She barks and pulls towards the dogs and she is scaring other dog owners, not to mention some other dogs do not like this. I have her on a halti and now that is ineffective. She ignores my commands to stop and sit. I already try to teach her to sit when we see other dogs and she’ll do that until they get close, then she’ll start the barking and pulling. I try taking her to the dog park to play and run and that was good for the first few months, but now all she wants to do is just bark excessively at the big dogs in their fenced in big dog area running along the fence, and ignoring my commands to stop. Everyone at the park is annoyed by her, and we rarely go now which is not good for my puppy. I have been to trainers but no one has addressed my dogs individual problems these classes are structured to give the basic obedience training in a “class” setting. Does anyone have any advice or any idea why she does this? I am at the end of my rope!!!

Dog Breeds You’d Love To Own And Why?
Just curious ![]()
I currently have a staffy mix, an australian shepherd, and a schipperke. I do conformation showing (obviously not with the staffy mix!), and agility and obedience competition with all three.
One day I am DEFINATELY going to own an australian cattle dog, along with the schipperke, they’re my favourite breed! Intelligent, willing to please, active, loyal to one person, good guard dogs. I will also definately own another schipp
)
There are plenty more breeds I say I’d love to own, however I don’t know how thats going to work out
)
Akita Inu – not an american one, the japanese one. They’re not yet a reconised breed in australia, however they are loyal, intelligent, one person dogs who are just so beautiful. Overseas there are dogs that compete in agility too.
Chow Chow – Although not agility or obedience dogs, they are so noble and beautiful. Although they’re cat like and independant, I think it would be a good challenge. They’re loyalty to one person also gets me!
St bernard – I love the giant breeds, however most are just too hairy! A smooth coat st bernard isn’t too bad for me, and I love their calm, docile disposition.
Saluki – They are such ellegant, and beautiful dogs. Definately a challenge to train, but would be fun doing it. They seem like affectionate couch potatoes at times, however their whining/howling could get frustrating
)
Gosh, I could go through a dog book and find so much more! However I’d love to take a break from conformation showing and go down to the local shelter and adopt a dog suitable for companionship and agility again. It was fun doing that many years ago when I adopted Cherry the staffy mix!
How Can My Parents Get My Sister To Pee In A Children’s Potty??…please Read All Additional Info ?
Ok so my sister is 2 years and 5 month old. My parents recently baught her a children’s potty to help potty train her. But before they bought it for her we would put her on the regular toilet to pee or poop. So we got her the children’s potty so she can learn to pee and poop on her own without someone taking her to the bath room. she won’t use it she refuse to sit on it to pee. How can we get her to do her business using the children’s potty and forget about using the regular toilet?
