Potty Training Advice (yes Another One Of These Questions, Lol)?
i know i know they say nobody goes to their prom in diapers, but somehow that’s not reassuring. The advice I have read about and heard from ppl is basically to take it slow and let the kid ecide when they are ready. NO pressure, NO negativity. No making it hard for them if they choose to stay in diapers for a while (don’t make them feel bad). So we have the potty. We taught her the potty dance. we set up a sticker reward system. and then we did just what they said, we backed off. She’s three years old and to go she insists on standing in our tv room with nobody in ear-shot of her. It HAS to be standing and it has to be in that room. She always tells us b4 she has to go either poop or pee. I’ve heard from many that one day she will just wake up and be like, OK I’ll do the potty now. Is that really true? and when will it be? before the age of 4? About once every three months when she says she has to be we’ll get her hyped up with the potty dance and offer her the option of going in her potty but she always says, “nope. that wouldn’t be such a good idea”. and makes us leave the room so she can go. We have told her she’s allowed to stand over it if she prefers standing but she doesn’t like that idea. Without constantly making suggestions to her or without pushing her or nagging her how can we nudge her into going without saying virtually anything to her? If we try different approaches I’m worried that will be the pressure everyone talks about (they all say just to leave it alone). But at 3 yo i’m getting worried there’s no reason for her to ever change this great set up she’s got going. why WOULD she wake up one day and decide to try it? lol. What can I do to gently work this forward slowly?
oh and we have tried the underwear thing. she doesn’t mind at all sitting it wet and soiled pants in the least, and we’ve already had to throw out our couch because of the mess she’s made on it, 8 pairs of pants and a good comforter, so that method isn’t going to work so well for us until she has a little less accidents. (by less I means less than a 100% fail rate). I’m utterly INCAPABLE of reusing anything that has had poop mashed into it with the acception of the carpet or something with a hard cleanable surface, lol. I’m highly OCD. but don’t worry we don’t get mad at her or even make a big deal about it. I just clean her up and dispose of the items.and no ,there is no getting around that part. it’s a mental disorder I have been struggling with my whole life so please don’t tell me all the reasons I’m a bad parent for not just bucking up and tossing it into the washer or scrubbing out the couch. plz. and don’t assume how I treat the kids or this house based on what I just said. my level or normal-ness in other areas besides poop might surprise you. no assumptions plz!))
Can You Recommend A Good Book On How To Train German Shepard Pups?

Thank you .
Sweating/soreness After My Workouts?
Didn’t get any answers when I put this question up , gonna try again. -.-
Personally , when I run on the treadmill , I wear a sweater , just cause I feel more comfortable wearing it while working out , and I sweat like hell !! Even after I take out the sweater to cool off , I still sweat a lot.
Does sweating a lot mean I’m burning calories ? I feel like if I don’t sweat like that , I’m not burning anything and the workouts BS. Is that right?
Also , when I’m doing weight training , I would be fine the entire day, except my arm would feel a bit worn out. But after I rest , the next day they would be completely sore! Is that good ?!
Does sweating during my workouts , and soreness after my workouts , mean that I’m doing everything right ? I personally love the sweat and the soreness , makes me feel the accomplishment of working my *** off.
Just want to make sure that these are signs of what I’m doing is right.
All answers are greatly appreciated !
What To Do If I Am Not Bonding With My New Dog?
I want to start this by saying I am a HUGE dog lover and this is absolutely breaking my heart, but here is the story. I lost my beloved (and absolute BEST friend) my dog, Simba, on 10/28/11. I rescued a new dog on 11/10/11. At the time I felt I was doing the right thing. It felt right and I thought that saving another dog would be what Simba would want. I rescued a 1 year old great pyr. and I have had him almost four months now. He is a good dog. Potty trained, knows basic commands, walks well on a leash, loves his crate, is well socialized, etc. Although we do have some problems with excessive barking. The problem is I don’t feel a connection with him at all. I care about him and I love him, I really do, but sometimes I feel more like I just tolerate him. He doesn’t seem to be connecting to me either. He doesn’t greet me at the dog, his tail doesn’t wag when he sees me, he isn’t very cuddly, never gives me kisses, etc. He listens to me fairly well. He will come when called and sit and shake and stuff, but he just really seems to have no interest in me. In fact, he has ran away twice-mistakes made on my end, but still he didn’t seem to want to come home. I know dogs are very intuitive, could it be that he is sensing my “anger” toward him. I am NOT mean to him. I love him and cuddle him and would NEVER hurt him, but sometimes I feel like I don’t like him very much. I have never felt like this before and he is my fourth dog. I am wondering when to give up? I don’t think I thought it through when I rescued him. I was still very much grieving the loss of my other dog. I acted impusively and without being honest with myself. He’s such a good boy and I am so upset by all of this. I just need to know when it is time to “give up” and find him a better home. Thank you.
Why Do Creepy People Always Hit On Me?
I dress very modest. I never wear makeup. I am quiet and don’t speak much. I am very aware of my surroundings and am living in the place I grew up in. I don’t go to parties (not because i’m anti-social, just because I don’t like them and used to drink too much). I only go from campus to home and to the store and home or to a friend’s house or airport, etc. People tell me I look like I am in mid-teens though I am in my 20s. I am always getting hit on by creepy people on the train, even when there are lots of other girls and women, creepers always choose me. I’ve also been molested more than once. So it’s not just like a whiny college complaint.
So why are creepers attracted to me?
Good Dog Breed For Me?
so, my mom told me that maybe i could get a little dog (!!). of course that wouldn’t be for a while (we need to find a home for a gsd we’re fostering, and our own dog needs some training). the dog would have to be:
-under 20 pounds (preferably in the toy group), and AKC-recognized.
-doesn’t shed a lot, but a medium amount of shedding is ok.
-active; not a couch potato dog. preferably smart.
-good with other dogs.
any ideas?
Liberals, What Is Your Solution To The Problems We Have?
What Republicans in Congress wish they could say to liberals
I recently talked with members of the House Republican Conference after the State of the Union. Being one of the few liberals in the room I asked several Republican members of Congress what they would say to a liberal.
The answers were in the following themes:
Energy:
Congressman Bill Huizenga (R-Mich.) asked me how can the president call for energy independence and then turn down the XL Pipeline? He said he would say to the liberals where are they going to pipe the tar sands oil? Where are they going to refine it? If the friendly country of Canada can’t pipe the oil through the United States it will be piped across Canada an loaded onto ships for China.
On that note he said that it was important that the Democrats stop make political calculations to do nothing.
Defense:
On Defense Congressman Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) said he wanted liberals to understand that we can’t slash the Army by 80,000 troops, the Marine Corps by 20,000 and reduce the Navy to World War I levels.
He wants the liberals to know that we need the troops to fight the pirates in Somalia and that we need to work with the African Union to train their troops. He believes that liberals are naive about the numbers of the military that China has. China is a “challenge not a threat” he said.
However, since they are an authoritarian state they are not going to reveal their capabilities to us.
Debt:
Congressman Scott Tipton (R-Colo.) would like the liberals to know that the choices we make in the next two years will define what kind of country we are.
He said that we all want to feed the hungry but the question is how do we active that goal. He explained the debt crisis to me as follows: “we are 15.3 trillion in debt. If you won $40 million in Powerball, just one trillion of that would be like winning $40 million dollars a year for twenty five thousand years.”
Taxes:
Congressman Joe Heck (R-Nev.), a physician is as concerned about taxes as he is about health care. He believes we need a flatter tax and he wants liberals to consider the possibility that everyone should pay into the system.
Congressman Heck want everyone to have some skin in the game and believes we can accomplish things if the rhetoric was toned down.
Congressman Tipton also weighed in on taxes. He would like to lower the tax rate and take away most deductions except for the home mortgage and the charitable deduction. He thinks that that would be fair to all Americans.
Economy:
The most outspoken member I spoke with was Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.). She believes that liberals don’t understand economics and that you can’t spend more than you take in because you will be bankrupt.
She says the liberals need to know that we have been paying for the wars with borrowed money and that we will not be “saving” money by not paying for the wars.
Is Owning A Dude Ranch Profitable?
Ever since I was a young girl, I have always wanted to live on a ranch somewhere with acres and acres of land and have lots of animals, primarily horses and dogs. As I get older, I’m realizing more that I need to be realistic. I still want my ranch, but I am trying to think of ways to make it profitable, so that I can keep that ranch. For a while I wanted to breed either horses or dogs, but I’ve heard that is not very profitable. I also thought about training, but someone advised me against that as well. What about a dude ranch? Would owning and operating a dude ranch be a good investment and be profitable? . I currently live in Orange County, CA and land is extremely expensive out here. But if I had a dude ranch somewhere in California, I could have it open year round, right? Any info or advise would be greatly appreciated. And any links or forums, too!
I Need Help House-breaking My 10 Week Old Puppy?
he is a cocker spaniel, i need a little bit of help trying to house break him. here is my issue, i take him out every 2 – 2 1/2 hours, sometimes he will go wee or poo but its one or the other and not both, i will stay outside for about 30-40 min then bring him in, and as soon as i bring him in he will relieve himself in the living room, and if i am able to catch him before he does i will take him outside for another 30-40 min but he will not do it outside even though moments before he was about to do it inside. every time he uses the bathroom outside i praise him and give him a treat, i don’t expect an instant result, i just want to know what i am doing wrong or if there is a better routine i could be doing.
MORE INFO-
i also have tried to crate train him using a crate from our previous dogs, its not too big and its not too small, but every time i put him in there he starts to wine and howl and will not stop until somebody takes him out, i have tried to ignore him and have even cover the crate with a blanket except for a tiny portion for fresh air but he will continue to wine and howl, should i just put him in there and show some tough love or what should i do?
American Bulldog/pitbull Mix Puppy Is Too Wild, Going Crazy, Helpp Please?
I love her SO SO SO much, I can’t let her go to another home, It would be like losing a child, but I am at my wits end, we got her on thanksgiving morning 24th of november 2012, when she was a couple of months old. Overall she is loving.
Right now she is teething I am seeing her teeth falling out and some are growing back.
But due to think teething she is biting everyone and everything. she is biting furniture, me and my sister, and my mom is thinking she being violent but shes only doing it because shes teething because when we give her toys shes tops biting people and things.
She runs around the house and is full of energy, she is about 5 months old now
she jumps on my 3 cats backs and barks at them and my 4 lb 8 year old yorkie hates her because shes so damn hyper! he growls at her and everything and she is just overall awfully annoying and very muscly and heavy so she cant be jumping on my yorkie and cats but she just still does it, I spank her and tell her no but she still does, she runs everywhere! my mom is trying to give her away if she doesnt stop
i cant let this happen! we are taking her to dog training classes every thursday
we had a female pitbull.staff before who died and a male chihuahua who died who were best of friends, thats what i wanted my yorkie and her to be like but shes been here for months and he is just not liking her no matter what, the only time they get along is when they are going for walks together.my yorkie hates puppies but loves older dogs, he hates my cousins 6 month old old time bulldog, but loves my aunts 5 year old german shepard! he takes well to older dogs, hates puppies.
Any tips to calm her down before my parents give her away! my mom is worrying about her biting off someones damn nose or ear when shes bigger or killing a cat because shes quite dopey and when she tries to be friendly and jump on people with excitement she goes mad!
